McCarthy’s tweet about “the island of princesses” was nothing more than an April Fools joke (one of many that she made).
 
As for Hasbro’s meddling with the show, I imagine the worst is over. Hasbro recently filed a trade for something known as “Rainbooms” so it would seem Rainbow Dash is their next “target”. Given that they’ve mentioned and alluded to the Equestria Games in Season 3, I imagine it’ll be a toyline centered around Rainbow Dash being…well, herself.

Sorry, but no. If the comic staff were to start working on the show, they’d have to stop doing a lot of what makes the comics interesting. Otherwise every other word out of the fandom’s mouth would be “PANDERING”.

I think what owes to the team behind the comics is that one idea they wanted to use for Rarity was considered for the show. Personally, I want to see the comic team put on the damn staff for the show to liven things up.
 
Sadly, I don’t see that happening. At least the comics can be a bit darker since the TV show is getting further strangled by Hasbro for marketing. I’ll just sit back and await the rest of the mane6 being turned into Princesses, or Twilight being taken to the island of princesses since McCarthy said there’s 53 of them in S4.

I’m pretty sure Lauren stated she drank quite a bit of wine while working on the show, and she even drew Fausticorn with a big glass and bottle of it.
 
By which I’m just saying that creative types and alcohol aren’t strangers.

You know she’s joking, right? AJ is (after Rarity) one of their favourite characters or so I heard.

Why not just make up a character, give them development, then off them? Yeah, they’re made to die, but you could pull it off.

Seriously though, there is a whole art trend about having a pony crying over the graves of one or more other ponies. it’s older then the immortal twilicorn thing actually. Katie seems to have hit a motherload of these and wanted a clarification.
