That’s how she came across to me in both “Luna Eclipsed” and “Crystal Empire”.
One can be incredibly socially awkward with odd tastes and not be a video game fan. But since the fandom features some who are socially awkward with odd tastes and love video games, it becomes a “go with what you know”.
My guess it was to make luna seem hipper and cooler than celestia. Jj just took it and ran with it.
Looking back its really dumb luna doesn’t seem to have an consistent canon character but the most common is that she’s far sterner and stoic than her sister
I thought it was more “We have been away from home for a thousand years, what has changed? Oh my, this new device is quite jolly!” and it goes from there.
Was it just “let’s combine two things I love” or something? Was it really necessary to try and make her even more adorkable than usual?
Some of these fandom interpretations and trends leave me scratching my head sometimes.
