From the gist of the Tvtropes page, TCB seems to be a story that took the new conflict from the last 10 minutes of Mass Effect 3, cast Celestia as the godchild, ponies as the reapers, and humans as the organics…ergo, while the premise has promise, the theme of misanthropy is kind of a turn-off

I agree with you about those fanfics, but I don’t think EG really squashes them.

You know what else?  
Regardless of what people think of equestria girls, whether or not you think it was good or such or anything really, there is one good thing it brought to HiE fanfics. Equestria girls has permanently for the rest of time buried the conversion bureau and misanthropic fanfics. It has forever shown that not only can mlp ponies interact peacefully with humans, they can as well like each other and that “humans r t3h ebil” fanfics are so out of character for mlp that the very notion of the conversion bureau clashes with everything about mlp.
 
Tl:dr; misanthropic fanfics can no longer fit anywhere in the mlp universe and are no longer even remotely compatible with anything that has anything to do with mlp.

Honestly, I hate stories that preach that humanity is pure fucking evil. Not only it’s preachy and hypocritical (unless a dog suddenly learned how to write), but can be disproven by looking out of the window.

And this is exactly the problem i have with these fics.

The conversion bureau, to be completely honest, frickin SUCKED and relied on misanthropy of “hurpa durp humans r t3h ebil”.
 
Humans in equestria, or humans and ponies interacting fics are my favorite genre, but that’s cause when done well show how different societies learn to interact and how societies change when new things are introduced. Like if Equestria and Earth were to all of a sudden merge, or be able to travel between, or the such the most realistic scenario is that there would be a couple months of panic from both civilizations having to adjust. Then we would probably establish trade, start up immigration between the worlds, trade technology and medicine, establish alliances and such with the cultures merging.
 
Tl:dr; the most realistic long term outcome to HiE stories is a couple months of panic and then a year later “TMZ, tonight our unicorn cameramen with invisibility spells caught on tape the most important thing since ever! Princess Celestia was caught eating a sugar free cake! Does this mean she’s going on a diet? Given she was caught in a swimsuit with cellulite my guess is yes! TMZ!”

Now that is a touchin’ story.  

I actually like HiE stories.  
But i never got into the conversion bureau thing.
