i^2+2/10, try harder
Yep, I know I was part of it.
(But on tumblr, people just go with popular opinion. Popular opinion was this was a terrible thing.)
Yeah. I ain’t even kidding to. Cheapest bronze horse is 2,395.00 without shipping or labor.
oh… shit.
@dragonartistJRR
PLEASE GIVFE ME LINKS!
i’ll regret it later…
Oh god, yes, it was amazing.
It. Is. GLORIOUS.
So yeah, whoever did this probably just cost whoever owned this thousands of dollars.
nice. im jelly
I currently live in central Europe. I’ve lived in various countries/cities across the Mediterranean and the UK and have traveled all over the silly continent for business and pleasure.
out of curiosity you live in euro/russia?
But seriously, tons of statues are paint magnets, and many are designed to be such. Perhaps this was the same?
okay
Seriously, man, these statues are everywhere in Europe. You have a higher chance of bumping into a horse statue over here than spotting a Ford Mondeo, and us euros god damn love our Ford Mondeos.
That horse statue has as much artistic value as a vector traced from a FiM episode. I don’t see anyone kicking up a fuss over people recoloring traced vectors, so I’m pretty confused as to why anyone cares over the most generic horse statue ever. I’d be more offended if someone had repainted one of those anti-parking poles around pedestrian plazas orange or something.
I’m no expert of horse statues and how many are their, but it seems to be a significant to the locals,I mean they don’t put random statue anywhere (unless its a modern doohicky like a spiral thing they call art because its hip like here in the US). In the US 9/10 it has some historical significant, usually has some one riding it (or just the person with no horse).
Either way dick move, faggots will be faggots. If its bronze I hope it had a thin oxidized layer to protect itself, not sure how the chemicals react to bronze,
what does the sign say?
I’ve seen how these statues are made. If it’s really modern, the artist just makes one statue out of some material that is very pliable and then it is scanned into a computer so a mold can be made. At no point does an actual artist touch the metal, it’s all machine lathed.
Well, it’s not like they’re all made in a factory. But they’re everywhere. It’s like a brick house with four walls and a slanted roof; they’re all made by different people that all went through architecture school, but they’re all identical and unoriginal.
so these horses are produced in mase? well, that does makes it less…. unrespectfull.
What the person should have done was get a cut out of the wing design and use that to spay the wings on. It would look more like rainbow dash and would really look 2000% cooler.
Now if I was to grade this…
Mane: B
Tail: A
Body: A
Wings: FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
All over grade for making this look like Rainbow Dash: D
The town I live in right now, if someone were to paint the horse statue in the main plaza any color, I’d be confused as to why the council would pay to “clean” it. It’s not like it hasn’t been a hideous, neglected, green bronze for a decade now. Lords above, a good vandalism might actually force the town to clean and restore the damn thing rather than let it turn into a pile of toxic green dust.
I live in Europe and I have been all over the place. Trust me, I know. It’s still a dick move, even if it’s just because some poor sucker will have to clean this up. I don’t suppose the ones who did this got caught, so it’ll be up to someone else to clean this thing.
I understand where you’re coming from, but I think defacing something on the internet is different than doing it in real life, since defacing something on the internet has no real consequences and the original will still be there untouched.
It kinda irks me, because this sort of stunt gets projected on the whole fandom. You know what they say: trust enters on foot, but leaves on horseback. (no pun intended)
The reason I replied to you is because I saw you losing your cool earlier in that April’s Fools tweet comment section.
Of course it’s done by mold, there is still a creator behind it. That doesn’t mean there was no artistry involved, molds to be used in the making of a bronze horse do not come out of nowhere. If you are saying this is trolling, then trolling has become something of a strange beast.
@TheAbridgenator
“I live in a world where you can deface a house and be called genius cuz you painted unintelligible bubble letters on it, so perhaps intention rather is 9/10th’s of the law. “
I actually don’t find that artistic. I said graffiti can be a wonderful thing, not that it is. Very important distinction, and whether or not an act of graffiti is art or crap always comes to the content and quality. In the end I do expect that most graffiti is washed away, but I always hope that when a true piece of art shows up on a building that it is left alone for at least a short time before removal.
