If you ignore the artwork, most of the novels refer to Astartes as being 2.5 meters tall, which translates to eight foot four.
 
Primarchs vary in height; Alpharius and Omegon were essentially indistinguishable from the rest of their Legion, while Battle of the Fang had Magnus the Red being about as tall as a Dreadnought.

I meant that they’re ‘supposed’ to only be like eight feet, but far to many artists make them fucking huge. Looking like almost twice the height of normal humans at times.

Depending on the artist, some of them really do have no sense of scale and draw them like 12 feet tall. Also there size seems to keep growing with time in official works they used to be like seven foot, then it was like seven and a half, then eight or even more. It’s a bit silly really.
