Versions with different lyrics but original music are still called covers or alternative lyrics covers. Covering a song doesn’t necessarily require reworking the whole musical track.

A dub is, indeed, when you take the original musical track and add your own vocals.
 
So no, this is an appropriate use of the word cover.

Okay, I am SERIOUSLY against people calling it a “Cover.” A cover is the front of a book or a CD case. A “Dub” on the other hand is when somebody unofficial replaces the vocals with their own.
 
Therefore all those songs should be called “Dubs” instead of “Covers”
