I know,right? and even releasing them in an unusual time,there’s still the time dedicated to it’s development.
 
Look at Ever After High.The first dolls were released recently in July,but hey,they were in development since early 2012 with some nice marketing campaign in between.

I wish to have an straight answer from the people at Hasbro about that.
 
McCarthy said in an interview some weeks ago that the guys from Hasbro simply approach them and asked them if the could do something with this setting and idea.
 
It gave me the impression that was something that was…sort of lax? of course,nothing wrong with lax but more like it wasn’t something that it was supposed to be a huge deal in the first place? I don’t know,if you get me,I’m just being silly again.

Definitely. I think a line of humanized ponies can be justified as an extension of the MLP brand, but they shouldn’t have tried to step onto Mattel’s turf with it. Going from ponies to not-ponies is risky enough without also going from Equestria to Canterlot High. If they want to break into that market that badly, they should have done it with a new IP.

I’m not a marketing major, but who the heck launches a new toy line in SUMMER? Even with the changing demographics towards year-round toy buying, Christmas shopping still brings in a ton of money and this is just going to look “old” in four months.
 
Again, I don’t think it will do well. It seems setup for failure.

Exactly and I agree,especially about the price and the time of launching.
 
I thought they should have taken some notes from Mattel,at least from all the good points since I won’t say that Mattel are flawless either.
 
I insist the should have made a new IP and go from there,but that would have been expensive (and too much work)I guess? in any case,it’s too late and there’s nothing to do but to wait for results.

I’m guessing they have other ways of telling than just sales. But I just can’t imagine these selling well. They launched them too early, made the promotional material too hard to find, and priced them too high.
 
I’d be surprised if they were still going in a year.

And (in my opinion) I see that as something troublesome,for one part,it’s fantastic,more money for them,the better,but on the other it won’t let them see the have ways to know if it’s the majority of the targer demographic who’s responding or if those sale are being boosted by the bronies and collectors…or they actually have means to know? I find that very interesting,I’m not a marketing expert but I’m looking forward to know how this thing will develop,even though I’m not a fan (and I’m not going to deny it) of this whole concept of Equestria Girls.

Anything could save AJ from being a boring character at this point, but it’s a shame that they always have to prop her up with her way more interesting and entertaining family members.

So have it that AJ teaches Bloom about something she DOES know, imply that she has the smarts in other places. It’s really not that hard, but the show writers seem to struggle with even that.

Nah, I just see lots and lots of entitled hypocrites in this fandom. No one actually cares about them making what they want, it’s only what we want.

Well,I for one I’m interested to see their reaction especially ever since @cb5  
talked about marketing and societal roles in one of the forums threads.
 
It’s true,some people in this fandom are incredibly entitled,but we also have to keep in mind that most of the Equestria Girls’ target demographic ages are teenagers (most ’ive seen are from 11 to 13)old enough that even they consider themselves part of the fandom.Thinking about this just makes things a bit more complicated.

The character has room to grow. AND room without involving her entire family. You just need a good writer to do so.
 
Case in point: An Episode where Applebloom is struggling with schoolwork. AJ feels bad because she can’t help her little sister, and seeks out Twilight’s help to become more knowledgable. In doing so, she neglects playing about with AB, who starts feeling like she’s losing AJ. After AJ sees AB go to someone else for play time instead (maybe Pinkie or RD), AJ realises her folly, and confesses her absence to AB. Dear princess Celestia, today I learned that it’s OK to not be so intelligent, or to not be as skilled in a certain area, as long as you remain true to yourself, and keep sight of the things you care about.
