The venting stage is largely over. Now it’s all about holding the line against attempts to marginalize them. Most would gladly put the issue on the sideburner and look forward if not for the attempts to silence and misrepresent them. As I said in my first comment, I think there’s still plenty to look forward to in FiM. There’s still the great animation, jokes, and other characters, and hopefully even Twilight will be worked into a satisfactory new narative. I can believe all of that and still be against the change. I could even enjoy new Twilight-centered episodes while still thinking it would have been better without the change.
I could hold that mindset and not say a word more about Twilicorn until the beginning of S4 if not for the attempts to delegitimize my opinion.
@Background Pony
Sure.
oh right the comics are also good :) until they will make new comic with this “thing”
Wow. That’s some pretty good insight there, ArrJay. Thanks for sharing.
I could see that being made into an episode somehow.
I must wonder if that’s why some people feel the need to continuously vent; I wonder if one is hoping, somehow, someone will take the time to listen. Time after time, they are dismissed or ridiculed. I’m seeing it here on this page.
After a very in-depth discussion, he’s been far quieter about EqG and Princess Twilight. He’s still of the same mind about it all, but I think he’s just happy he got to share what was on his mind.
I made it clear right from the start that it wasn’t my intention to force him to agree with me; we could disagree on everything. I just wanted to understand. I set aside my own opinion, and both of us set aside the need to be “right”, and I’m sure it strengthened our friendship quite a bit.
(I did actually convince him of a few things after a lot of in-depth discussion. I’m just happy he in turn listened to me. I needed venting, too!)
Thank you. Most of us are just so tired of hearing how “Twilicorn”, “Equestria Girls”, ect, ‘ruined’ everything and the writers can’t do anything right anymore, like we can’t just be happy about the show anymore.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who couldn’t get hyped because of that, I’m indifferent towards it now, the comics are still really good tho
Thank you for that, ArrYay.
I’m failing badly and not getting too excited, by the way. I CAN’T WAIT!
@WatermelonRat
I might be able to offer some insight, here.
In general, people usually view others starting at a neutral point. If others’ initial impression of you are negative (complaining about a change), I find that it doesn’t matter how rational or well-reasoned your stance is. Others’ opinion of you (depending on their own stance) may drop into the negative. At this point, people stop listening to anything you’re saying completely. You’re now taking more energy from some others than you’re putting back.
While your conclusions and reasoning are crystal-clear to you, I believe many others are perceiving the anti-alicorn Princess Twilight stance, as a sort of mopey, “Meh, the show is ruined forever now, and there’s no way it can ever be good again.” To me, it seems extremely premature to make that sort of judgement without having seen Season 4 for yourself.
There’s also the point that critics keep bringing it up over and over and over again, and my impression is that many are really tired of hearing it, so that’s why some folks may be a bit low on empathy.
I’m speaking for a friends that have had big issues with Princess Twilight. After addressing a bunch of things with them, some are more okay with it, some are still not. I agree that for some, it’s not as easy as “getting over it”. A lot of it had to do with the way it was presented. He doesn’t like poorly justified change. If they offered a better explanation or better build up, he thinks he could have tolerated it better. Because it’s poorly explained, his mind just keeps tripping up over that particular detail. It’s not like he wants to be unhappy. He loves ponies, the show, and this fandom. For him to deal well with change, it has to be explained well, or it’s simply not worth doing. He’s fiercely stubborn that way, and he’s admitted that it’s even a bit irrational (Not that being irrational means his opinion is invalid, mind you.)
Season 4 might change his mind, but he’s not counting on it.
All that said, I think people want you all to enjoy Season 4, too. We all love ponies. I’m just tired of all the negativity around here. I understand and accept that some people aren’t going to be happy with the show. I just wish we could do something about fans being so negative to each other, regardless of their opinion. :/
Bah. I’ve rambled enough. This sort of thing has been bothering me for months. The fan-negativity thing.
Can I use you as a reference before you leave?
Stand strong. They wish to push us out, to shame and ridicule us into leaving. Don’t give in. Don’t pick fights, but don’t be shy when the topic comes up. Be rational and measured, so that they cannot credibly dismiss us. Make them realize that they’ll be the ones who must leave if they wish to be rid of us.
Eh. What are you gonna do?
@FSin
Fuck, you guys are complete cunts. I was saying that even if I didn’t like the change, there was still plenty to like about the show, and you respond like that?
You can’t claim “I’m just sick of hearing about it” this time. You’re actively trying to suppress even the offhand acknowledgement of dissatisfaction with the alicorn change.
You’re gonna have to push me over, then.
not for me … I don’t care any more about future episodes/seasons until one day one someone will tell me that everything returned to normal (pre season3 aspects) in show. For me there is no hype for new MLP season like year ago.
I’m here/in this fandom just for art (SFW&NSFW) with characters I have in watch list.

@WatermelonRat
It’s been 3 months, get over it.
I’m with you that it’s a disappointing decision that decrease’s Twilight’s appeal, but there should still be plenty to enjoy.
but
Twicorn in show forever
so meh
Pinkie, you’ve turned off your targetting computer. Is everything alright?
