No, I mean that Don Bluth’s life is a tale of brief, glorious happiness followed by a spiral of misery, despair, and broken dreams.
 
Everyone has an inner child. Don Bluth’s life is the tale of how that inner child was brutalized and murdered.

My guess is that he’s implying its because the characters in Bluth’s movies tend to go through a ridiculous amount of misery and suffering before they finally get their happy ending.

I don’t know, I loved “Rock-a-Doodle,” as a kid personally. Sure it was a li’l strange, looking back on it, but the strangeness, was part of why I liked it, and it still had the heart-warmingness, comedy, cuteness, and edgyness/darkness Don Bluth animated movies are known for.
 
Sure some of his movies were a bit “hit and miss” after that, (Bluth didn’t like how “Pebble & the Penguin” turned out so much, he took his name off of it) but I love Don Bluth movies for the most part.  
“Secret of NIMH,” “An American Tale,” “Land Before Time,” (not it’s crappy sequals) “All Dogs Go to Heaven” will definately be a part of my childhood.
 
“Titan A.E.” was actually pretty good to, and had some impressive animation. (Both 2D & 3D.) I hear he might be trying to get a “Dragon’s Lair” movie going. (Based on the famous old FMV arcade game he created in the ’80s.)

General consensus is that his early work his great, but this movie was the point where he went downhill.

Nostalgia like whoa, man.

I like to think that Charlie Brown has a picture of Don Bluth in his wallet to remind him that, no matter how bad his life may become, it could always get a fuckton worse.
