Actually, some have been bashing the comic. >>388750 (deleted)
Also, I see the “Derpy” bit as more of a shout-out then “pandering.” But yeah that sure went to hell, and now thanks to both sides of the Derpygate argument, I was amazed to see Derpy at all in the show after that.
Honestly, I’m getting tired of hearing about “pandering,” I don’t care if they are, or not, but overall they said the brony phenomenon hasn’t really changed the way they make the show, (as I said, it always had subtle jokes for the parents watching, like some cartoons do) and they figured if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.
@Evowizard25
@Etherchanter
Thanks, guys. :)
I don’t get it either.
And those accusations are just that: accusations. Completely bullshit accusations from the delusional, elitist fuckwits at /mlp/.
Only once in the show’s history has the staff ever truly been guilty of pandering:
And you all know how that turned out.
(No Magic Dual does not count, because it was written in 2011, before Trixie’s fanbase grew as ridiculously large as it did.)
But What’s really stupid about all of it is that the comics are far, far, far more guilty of pandering to bronies, and yet I hear nothing but praise.
How did we change from that? I’ve been here since 2011 and yes, I agree with you on those points. We used to love references and fan favorite characters getting spotlight and such.
I just never understood how we could change or how it happened. I don’t even know why it happened. (Season 3 got a lot of people feeling negative for some reason….And maybe the finale of season 2, but Cadance is a great character and Chrysalis is just awesome.)
This.
Just…
fucking…
THIS!
*Cue Abe Simpson voice*
I remember when everybody was freakin’ happy then the staff did something we liked. Now they’re more often than not accused of pandering to us.
Maybe it’s possible some of the people who work on the show like some of the same background characters, and humor the fans do. (Heck, there’s been “pandering” ever sense they first started to purposely cross Derpy’s eyes in “Feeling Pinkie-Keen.”)
People complaining about “pandering” is ironic, considering people were begging for Derpy to come back all throughout Season 3. (Which barely featured her at all.)
“The boy who cried Pandering?”
/mlp/ really needs to read that book.
@Grieffon
So all the artists who work on the show (and comics, I guess) should only use background ponies that fans don’t care about, even though they themselves like certain fan-favorite background ponies?
Yes, the comics are exactly where pandering should be. I hope they exhaust all the pandering in these comics, so it’s nowhere to be found in the show.
