The best guess anyone has is that with the advancement of technology computer gaming is making a comeback. Originally the reason why we had cartridges, discs and such is that it was just impractical to download video games off the internet to your console. Nowadays you can just download a game and play it on either your console or your computer.
 
Personally I think the wiiu, ps4 and xbox720 will be the last consoles to have discs to them. The reason being is that by the time the next console comes out it just won’t be worth it monetarily to play your games by disc when you can just download it in like an hour or two.

As long as Nintendo has a strong second party and third party line-up and hopefully finds somewhat fresh spins on their own games I don’t really care what the haters say.
 
I may play Xbox and PS3 more often nowadays, but I’m still a Nintendo fan at heart.

It’s no different then all the Sony fanboys, or XBox fanboys insisting their favorite system/company is the best, as well.
 
One thing I do like about Nintendo better then other companies is they’re the only game console-making company left that actually makes some of their own games.

Actually, those 2 systems still did pretty well.  
The N64 sold insanely well for it’s first few years, (and had several “million” seller games) and was difficult to find on store shelves, I remember.
 
Also while the GameCube finished third behind the PS2 & XBox, it however actually still make good profits.  
Even when it went down to $99. it was still cheaper to manufacture, then it’s price tag (unlike the PS2 & XBox, which lost profits on each console sold, and had to make up for them with selling game discs) so actually the GameCube didn’t exactly “fail” like some try to say.
 
The only Nintendo system that completely flopped was the 1995 “Virtual Boy.”  
Though, I hear “Wario Land VB” was the best game on that system, and worth playing.

i don’t know about the WiiU but the 3DS is selling very well.

The Wii U and 3DS haven’t sold nearly as well as their predecessors in the same time they were out.

You mean like the Gamecube and N64. Two great consoles that died a long slow tortuous death because of crappy third party support.

Except the 3ds is a disaster that I haven’t touched in months.

That actually a pretty accurate description about the way their t.v. console worked but It should explain how after a first big success at selling the machine itself, the kid and family are a less good market than gamer because they only buy about ten title and how it become a problem when it come to developing better exclusive game for their console.

Console sales in general are going down the toilet and it’s not cause “we’ll people are waiting for the next console” either.

people is too busy fighting to death to get physical copies of FE13 to care about the WiiU, just wait until that FE x SMT game comes out…

That was just as the shit OP posted.

Even as a nintendo supporter myself, I still have to admit that their last t.v. console since the gamecube doesn’t reached the popularity they expected. But they made a big succes with portable devices and it took more than just one or two mistake to doom something as big as Nintendo.

Because it did not have that family appeal like the wii did.  
That is one of Nintendo’s main points in sales.  
It was more of a gamers console than a family play thing.
