Ironically, I did state I actually liked the pic itself,
(I don’t care what race Pinkie is, heck I’m technically a mixed race myself.) I just didn’t like the artist’s “look how progressive & not-racist I am” attitude. It came off a tad self-righteous, rather then trying to stand up for diversity in fanart humanizations like they were intending.
Not to mention they were lawding Tumblr as “200% more progressive” which is rather ironic. (As Tumblr kinda went to hell now in that regard.)
Aslo, it’s nice to see a black humanization where someone actually used a shade of brown that compliments the pink instead of just slapping in some garrish dark brown.
Indeed, and pics like this that are like, “Fck the haters!”* don’t help that either.
I must add the artist got angry when I commented on the pic. Yeesh…
That is most reasonable. I approve. The only problem is that some people assume all art with the ponies as non-white humans is to be defiant, rather than because of the artist’s interpretations.
The guy used a racial slur which has no place on our site.
There’s an IRL story that some guy was calling up black people, making racist remarks to them, acting like a white-supremisist, and such. The authorities jumped to the conclusion it was likely a white guy.
When they finally tracked him down, it turned out to be a black guy PRETENDING to be a white racist who was making these harassing phone calls.
Hilariously, as part of his punishment for his crimes, he had to attend racial-sensitivity classes.
Yeah, while Pinkie looks cute here, whether black, or white, if artists only want to “diversify” humanized ponies just to be “rebellious,” “politically-correct,” or “cool,” or just to be like…
“I drew a humanized pony character black, aren’t I cool, and rebelious, and so non-racist?! Screw you racists who want her to be white!” then they’re doing it for all the wrong reasons…
Also, honestly, I think people who act like you can’t make the pony characters white, or lash out at artists, and call them “racist” for not diversifying them enough are NO BETTER then the trolls who make racist comments on pics when humanized MLP characters are drawn with different skin-tones, or ethnicities.
Besides, it’s getting to a point where we rarely even see white Twilight Sparkle humanizations anymore. (Not to mention, why not make her Asian, Mexican, or something else, as well? There’s other races besides black & white, some forget.)
This would’ve been a nice pic if the artist didn’t put that passive-aggressive “fck the haters”* bit in, and rant in the pic description like a wannabe-social-justice-warrior. (Even linking to that “PrejudiceIsMagic” tumblr to “prove their point/s,” and try to make bronies look “racist.”)
@HumanaeVitae
Regardless, making racial remarks is STILL rather rude things to say, and they only help these guilty-white politically-correct SJW folk in their arguments that “bronies are racist” and such. (Please stop giving them fodder.)
I support Free-speech very strongly, but “free-speech” doesn’t mean you can just run into an office building and yell, “FIIIIRE!” just to cause trouble.
Calm thine tits. He has a right to believe what he believes. If he shouldn’t be racist, then you shouldn’t criticize him for it.
Shut your racist shit spewing mouth.
Also, I dislike the message the artist is sending. Doing a dark-skinned humanization is one thing, but pairing it with “fuck the haters” is being needlessly provocative.
