Well, now that we know what her mother’s like, I’m thinking that while Diamond’s not happy about this per se, she’s also relieved that her father is handling it rather than mom getting involved.

Well, obviously she won’t grow out of it on her own, but proper parenting and maybe Cheerilee not letting her get away with quite so much being a jerk at school, they may be able to shove her onto the right track. Maybe.

Well, I know I’d punish her lighter than Mr. Wilson would at least. I’m content with that.
 
And true, this could just be a phase of her childhood and she could simply grow out of it through time and life experience. I must state, however, that this is an incredibly idealistic vision of character growth when taking into consideration the snotty brat it’s being attached to.

Yeah, this would be a suitable punishment. Funny thing is though, if you google the original image, it’s actually a Mother, and son in the picture.

Hopefully, daddy will provide some guidance and, if needed, discipline. Which brings us back to the picture: I believe something like this would be a perfectly reasonable way to punish DT (and possibly SS as well). She’s not getting hurt (physically, at least), her dad’s right there to make sure nothing bad happens, but she gets a taste of her own medicine and learns what it feels like to be humiliated in front of everyone.

Admittedly, even if she is a brat, she is kinda adorable in her own way. (Like when she sung briefly in “Pinkie Pride.”)
 
Yeah, I heard some even made fanfics where she gets “tortured,” or “bad” things happened to her, and such. So some do go a bit overboard with their hate of her.
 
I don’t read fics much, but one I did kinda like was “Cubic Zirconia,” which makes Tiara a bit more sympethetic when a bunch of bad things start happen to her, but at times she’s still a li’l bratty, and selfish at times, so she’s not to OOC, (she’s basically gradually learning empathy, and such in it) just a bit more likeable in it, and the story does a good job reminding you that perhaps under that “stuck-up snob, bully” is still a young filly, who’s quite ignorant about the world around her, and can become sad/hurt at times to.

Yeah, I like to think maybe some day she’ll grow out of it. As you say she’ll have to, or the Apples won’t want to do business with her, and that could hurt her Daddy’s business.

I find her unlikeable (though sometimes amusing), but she’s a kid, it’s entirely possible she’ll grow out of it.

And yeah, the fandom does like to demonize her quite a lot. I’ve read a few fanfics that just took her straight over the deep end into Cupcakes territory, which even for an asshole and a brat is pretty extreme by any conceivable measure.
 
However, don’t forget that there’s still that niche group among us that really does like her. Some because she gives the CMC their own antagonist to face off against, others because her character design is admittedly very cute, and others still for reasons beyond me. Maybe they’d like to see a bully worse than Babs get reformed? I dunno.
 
Still, I’ll say that while I do want to smack her in the back of the head every now and then, I don’t actually hate DT. Hate’s a strong word, muh man.

Just a reminder guys, even if she is a li’l biotch, she’s still a li’l kid, yet you’re talking about her like she’s a criminal, or the root of all evil.
 
While she is mean to the CMC, and deserves retribution/karma for it, she only hassles them verbally. Some bullies are much worse, and attack others physically. (Most of the time the worst things she did was call them “blank-flanks,” and blackmail them once.)  
Honestly, she could be much worse, and she doesn’t deserve the death-penalty, or anything. (Like some say she does.)

It’s a bit dark to explore, but shame is a concept that everyone can understand, even if it has to come in the form of wounded pride.
 
Do I think DT has it in her withered, little heart to feel ashamed for her own actions and the impact that they’ve have on the ponies around her? Hell no.
 
But do I think she’s a prideful prick that a punishment more along the lines of forced community service (like collecting trash on the side of the road) would prove more effective? Yeah, I’d like to think so.
