The problem is the picture is Gollum, not a golem.
No harm done.
Again, I apologize.
Yeah, I figured.
Oh, sorry, misunderstood. You didn’t have it pointed at him, so I thought you meant the other thing.
Did you read Sjogre’s post about the nature of golems? That’s what I was asking about.
Then I don’t know what else to tell you, although I think technically most of the information isn’t really accurate after the first sentence anyhow. But that was the main way Lyra was supposed to be wrong in this one.
I got the wordplay.
@Kamazeustra
In this case, the joke is that the picture is of the wrong thing. It’s Gollum rather than a golem.
It’s misusage of the term “golem” that annoys me.
The homunculi from Full Metal Alchemist are artificial humans created from alchemy. That’s pretty much the proper usage of the term, even if they aren’t miniature.
Technically, androids and gynoids are also pretty close to be homunculi, as was Frankenstein’s creature. “Human created by Science” covers the definition of the term in most settings, allowing it to refer to a wide range of creations.
Sorry, some how I was getting you and Sjogre mixed up.
I derped bad.
I mean golems
No Im just saying the word homunculi could never be mixed up with his name. Which was what I was trying to do so Gollum and have the info be about homunculi
If you can’t let the mixing of golems with homunculi go on a joke, then you need to chill.
And I asked about FMA as your comments made it seem like you can’t stand anything not falling under the proper definition of a homunculi you hate.
Ok I’m confused
and I don’t hate FMA I witched it and liked it
Oh, and if you get that upset over how homunculi is used then do you hate Fullmetal Alchemist?
Hint, most of the antangonist in it are homunculus made from real humans.
Not even for a joke?
Okay then!
To be fair, most thing of golems as… well… “magic robots”
And that’s not far off, they are anthropomorphic beings(mostly human like) made of inanimate matter(mostly things like mud, stone, and so on) so it seems like a robot in terms of look.
Heck the book series Apprentice Adept(i have onlt looked at a few of them) shows the parallel between robots and golems.
Golems aren’t human replicas at any scale, unlike a homunculi. There’s a lot of differences.
A lot of times when someone says golem, they mean either homunculi or robot. And yes, ancient mythologies had the concept of robots, even if they didn’t have the word.
