Actually, yes, it did occur to me to compare it to that particular fiasco, but I wanted to make it more general.
Pun not intended.
This is our KONY… PONY KONY.
It’s more like somebody has announced their intent to write a strongly worded letter to the writer of a comic that includes an African warlord as a main character because they want to make some third-world nation a better place, and you should buy a t-shirt supporting him for promising to fight against the comic writer.
This response is telling everybody that wants to buy the t-shirts to give to, say, UNICEF instead, so their money might actually be put to good use.
More pertinently, there haven’t been any “rape jokes in response to complaints” that I’ve seen. And I follow JJ on both of his tumblr accounts as well as on dA.
There’s no actual problem involved in this shit, so it’s not.
MLP is not about molestation, and while some random dude on the Internet drawing stuff isn’t the end of the world, it’s damn embarrassing that the whole fandom is rallying around the person making rape jokes in response to complaints about his other rape jokes instead of trying to promote the values the show espouses.
