The story behind this as far as I know:
Jason Hardy, the line developer of Shadowrun, hates bronies. Apparently, he lost some kind of bet and this is a result.

It was a combination of the two things.
I’m pretty sure this gag covers was because of a lost bet, not because of a nickname.
Rather then risk looking like a dumbass, let me correct myself. this is not an actual rule book for a MLP version of Shadowrun, it was simply a gag. 5th edition was nicknamed “Project Brony” to annoy several of the people working on it, and the name stuck. What you see here is one of twelve copies of 5th edition shadowrun with the front and back cover’s modified with pony characters.
Although, Jason Hardy hating bronies makes me sad. it always makes me sad when someone cool hates me for a silly reason.
