Yea, I’ve always thought that Cadence/Cadance, whichever is the correct spelling, was originally from the Crystal Empire. My theory was about the Empire being cursed and sealed away in time. Cadence was escaping from the empire during that period, and, when she reached the border, the curse took hold. A sort of temporal catapult happened where the pony was flung into the future.
 
Story i’ve been working on is different where Sombra experimented on Cadence and sealed her away inside of a crystal to “test” his research. She didn’t die, but was put into a sort of suspended animation where she merely dreamed.
 
I disregard that Crystal Heart spell paperback book as canon, so I leave things up in the air as to Cadence being born a pegasus pony or an alicorn.

It’s a pretty interesting Headcannon theory. But for me personally I saw King Sombra get his kinghood not from birth, but through force (either rising up and enslaving everyone as a lowly Unicorn first or was the traditional ‘I was next in line, I should be the one ruling.’)  
But I do like the Love Poison effect theory for Chrysalis.

I produced a HUGE timeline that pretty much refined that into a workable theory, though it also included a possible origin for cadence.

Still though, a very well-done, dark, and terrifying picture. Kudos to the artist.

I find this type of headcanon rather interesting.
 
Still believe that the princess and prince we saw in the hearts and hooves day book was Sombra and Queen Chrysalis, forget her fan given princess name. Hasbro has decreed from their mighty throne and all that all alicorns are princesses and all princesses when mentioned are alicorns to fuel their war efforts against Disney…
 
Anyways, Chrysalis drank the love potion and was never freed from its corruption. She became a lustful creature that needed even more love. The pony connected with her subjects on a psychic level and fed off their love. In a sad twist of fate, the connection caused a trickle effect where the ponies became corrupted themselves and couldn’t feed their princess anymore. Her form was twisted and became chrysalis while the ponies turned into changelings. The princess was adept at using the Omniomorphic/Amniomorphic spell we heard about during the Nightmare Night episode, and this enables them to transform into creature’s lovers to get better food.
 
Sombra grieved for the loss of chrysalis, and this grief turned to greed and rage as he enslaved his subjects to give him nothing but crystals to remind him of his lost love. Over the years, his mind lost all of it. The only thing he cared about was crystals, never knowing why he loved them/desired them so much.
 
Just my headcanon anyways.

I don’t like Chrysalis x Sombra but idea is nice and pic is pretty neat

It killed her kind once.
