The issues I have with G4 boils down to Tone and Direction, countless times we get introduced to some new character, aspect or idea in G4, only to quickly drop, abandon, or muck it up in some fashion that makes us question what the reason we watch the show for…  
Spike, the Buffaloes, the Diamond Dogs, Zecora, Peewee, Prince Blueblood, the Changelings, and even Princess Luna suffered from this lack-of-direction that would have helped to build up the world and make it feel more alive and believable. Why do you think that Season 3, Equestria Girls, and Alicorn Twilight was treated as a plague by the fandom?

Meh. G4 isn’t bad at all but I do have more than a few troubles with the art style. I hope G5 is better.

i like everything about G4 and think it’s a style that will age decently well enough

If it’s in the same continuity it’s G4. At most it’ll be G4.5

honestly i could see them trying to stretch G4 out as long as they can and maybe even make new shows with new characters but same style that would technically be G5
 
though i suppose it’s differing styles that differentiate different gens

honestly it’s not really a bad thing since they hit on something that actually works well
 
took them thirty years but they got to the point where they actually treat one of their main franchises with the attention it deserves
 
i’m just saying that “G5” might just be another pony show very close to FiM’s style, since they’ve got the point that spending all of that money to pay a company to make a show for you really helps brand awareness
 
but what do i know, i’m just here for the ride too

The same thing happened with G1. We probably won’t be getting G5 for another 5 - 10 years.

what they don’t know is that Hasbro will ride the G4 universe’s popularity and play it safe so that the days of easily distinguishable pony gens are probably gone for a while
