This is why Youtube needs to get some HUMANS to handle this, instead of letting a machine do it. A machine can’t really tell the difference between a person uploading this on their channel for views or Hasbro uploading this on their own youtube channel. ContentID should never have been a thing, all it does is cause problems for everyone. Ugh…

I don’t think that this particularly proves anything about the theft-or-not-theft-ness of electronic media duplication.

What I do think it proves is that Youtube’s copyright infringement ‘system’ is hilariously broken.

Technically, copying a digital file is never theft. It’s just copying.

But that’s entirely beside the point. The important thing here is that this proves youtube’s copyright claim system is stupid and terrible and bad.

Yes, but I was pointing out it says it was taken down for content copyrighted of Shout and Foreground said it was take down by down by Hasbro.
Only some of what Shout makes is Hasbro’s IP but is not a part of Hasbro.

But the content ultimately belongs to Hasbro, Shout Factory only has a license to produce DVDs and such based on Hasbro’s IP. Shout has next to no power over what Hasbro does with its own IP - unless it violates a contract they had, in which case most people would tear up the contract or threaten to sue.

It is still ironic, and I personally consider it to be a little karma too.
