I’m guessing before Celestia was around, they used the Sun Stone to move the Sun and Moon.
Yeah in the comics, Twilight briefly acknowledges the G1 Sun Stone.
There’s no other context in the comic. The words suggest that it’s probably a machine, but this IS something that Celestia would do. She likes mingling with her people, and she likes messing with ponies.
I wouldn’t be surprised if she disguised herself AS a machine.
Though it seems strangely mean spirited for an all powerful deity to enter the competition at a small town fete.
Mostly, I’m so hungry for any bit of lore for the princesses we get, so this is just really neat. :D
You’re selling it a bit short. Sure it’s nowhere near solar system breaking, but it can still do some damage. Like what was mentioned earlier, a super-powered Twilight did an equivalent blast that vaporized a freakin castle wall. While not a kamehameha, it’s still nothing to sneeze at.
“solar-system+ level being’s” when her “death ray” had all the firepower of a Sci-fi ray pistol, if that? A damn Phaser could do more impressive damage then that thing did. Actually the phaser would be way faster so it would have just hit Chissy before she could do anything and fucking vaporized her.

Well okay, maybe not the picture itself, but part of the fun these images is reading the comments people make, and this kind of bickering detracts from that.
