It’s pretty common sense, really. Apple Bloom is a farm girl, so she’s going to be wearing overalls. Scootaloo’s an athletic tomboy, so she’s going to wear boy’s clothing or sporting gear. And Sweetie Belle’s older sister is a dress designer–of course she’s going to be modeling Rarity’s fashions for her.

Her sister probably has a lot to do with that; I doubt her parents are so dainty.
Either way that dress is still going to be covered in mud & tree sap by the end of the day.
