I could swear that something else did these style of evolutions long before Digimon did (though heck if I can remember what), and I hate these cries of “OMG DIGIMON RIP-OFF” when that probably would have been a relevant complaint back when Digimon was actually relevant, which it really hasn’t been for more than a decade. If anything this reminds me more of things like Super Saiyan and Super Sonic kind of stuff, a temporary power up in battle. (or heck imagine things like Dante’s Devil Trigger or just any “powered up form” featured in action games)

and, lol, why they did that “EVOLUTION! ACTIVATE!” thing? now the digimon fans are on fire.

Ideally, I would’ve removed charizard from the whole thing, but hiding things from still jpg images and making it look clean is pretty much impossible.
