Personally, Human After All took a couple of listens before I could really get into it. It’s a good album though, all of them are. I consider Discovery to be my favourite album from Daft Punk with RAM a close second
However, Daft Punk were also deep-seated in the past. There’s probably no DP song that isn’t influenced by the music they heard in their youth. While that’s probably true for every musician, DP do that apparently consciously.
In the light of this, I think it was just a matter of time until they do a throwback like RAM. It’s tricky to get into it, especially when you never really liked disco stuff, but it’s well worth it. And it’s still clearly Daft Punk.
Also, I had more trouble getting into Homework (after knowing Discovery and Human After All) than into RAM.
House music wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for disco, so I reckon Daft Punk felt like exploring that genre partly because of that.
yeah daft punk been multi-genre like rock, rave and disco but daft punk’s mostly been french house.
My dad loves pretty much every track that harkens back to 70’s disco on this album. Of course, when you have the likes of Nile Rogers providing the guitarwork - a man who helped define the sound of that era - it’s no wonder the music is so good.
Personally, I think the hate boils down to people who fail to realise that Daft Punk’s albums have never been alike, and people who simply can’t be arsed to appreciate older genres.
