I’d say the spelling is Stratodon, from stratos (greek-related term usually used for sky things, like stratosphere, meaning spread out, and that fits these winged beasts) and odon (alternate spelling which means tooth or tusk in ancient greek and fits their large fangs and jaws).
(Honestly, the animation for the pilot was my favorite. Megan was cute and I rather liked the more realistic looks of the ponies. Not to say I don’t like the later episodes, but I like this animation better.)

Agreed. The animation was actually more consistent. It’s like… they actually cared at one point.
