Sadly, the comics are not canon to the show.
Well he’s been shown on occasions to say more.
And like his comic, it would be more of things happening to him and reacting. {That was a hilarious comic by the way.}
Maybe they thought a “Big Mac” episode would be just Big Mac standing around saying “Eeyup” for 22 minutes?
Celestia being a butt is more the writers fault then hers.
Why? Because they don’t want to give Celestia the spotlight. {I sincerely doubt we will ever get a Celestia episode, even though I’d love one.}
The writers always put Celestia as a secondary character, even in her own comic. {Loved the comic though.}
They do this to build up Twilight and the others.
In show, {beside having in the past taken down Discord, Sombra, and Nightmare Moon} Celestia has only twice done anything in an episode.
Stop Twilight’s ‘Want-It-Need-It’ spell. {Who taught her that spell? Cadance?} And her fight with Chrysalis. {Which she lost….yeah, that happened.}
{Of course she helped fend off a swarm of giant cockatrices in the comic, we don’t get to really see much of it, and it’s only a little segment.}
While I would love the writers to make her more competent and have her do things, I’m afraid the writers aren’t going to focus on her at all. {Since they turned down the idea of a Big Mac episode.}
So only the main six, Spike, and the CMC will ever have the limelight.
In the end, she could’ve dealt with the problems herself, but Celestia seems to be playing a bigger game then everyone realizes. Only she sees the big picture and doesn’t want anyone to get in on any information that gives them an edge. That’s why she’s usually so cryptic. {Like the Eldar.}
Blame the writers, not her.
>Sunset Shimmer could have become the Element of Magic, could have become and Alicorn, if she just dropped her snooty attitude and made friends.
You mean like Twilight was going to do before Celestia kicked her out on her ass and essentially forced her to do so because she sure as hell wasn’t doing it herself?
That’s less ‘Twilight is better than Sunset’ and more ‘Celestia at least learned one goddamn thing from the whole Sunset episode’
>In the end, Sunset became like Starswirl. Full of potential, but never realizing it.
No, Sunset became like Luna/NMM in that she went bad because of her feeling like she was being ignored and/or pushed aside - Celestia herself makes the comparison to that. You’d think Celestia would have learned something about how ponies can react badly to feeling like they’re being ignored from the most defining moment of her life, but I guess not.
>And ’Celestia is evil’ theories are just so dumb. I got sick of them during the time prior to season 2.
Celestia’s not evil. And Luna’s not a holy saint.
Celestia’s not evil. She is, however, a butt. Specifically a butt who makes poor choices and doesn’t seem to learn too well from her past mistakes.
And ‘Celestia is evil’ theories are just so dumb. I got sick of them during the time prior to season 2.
Celestia’s not evil. And Luna’s not a holy saint.
And yes, Celestia could’ve explained the mirror, but she had her reasons….I can’t really think of them, but still.
Celestia failed Sunset because she wasn’t worthy of becoming the Element of Magic, which she was building up to. Sunset Shimmer could have become the Element of Magic, could have become and Alicorn, if she just dropped her snooty attitude and made friends.
Heck, five mare, similar to the other mane sex, actually approach her and want to be friendly. If Sunset had accepted, then I think Celestia would have been more leniant. {Heck, Lyra could have been an Element of harmony.}
In the end, Sunset became like Starswirl. Full of potential, but never realizing it. {Though this hints at the possibility of male alicorns.}
Eh, by which i mean ‘weeks passed, Twilight joining could have happened during that period’.
Man, don’t crush my ‘Celestia is evil’ headcanons so easily!
But… yeah, okay, i’ll admit I missed that - I honestly thought that panel was later in the comic than it was.
That saaaaaid, it does say Sunset questioned celestia for weeks before being kicked out - so it’s still a viable theory if one wants to subscribe to the ‘Celestia is more butts than she already is’ theory.
I mean hell, going by the comic Celestia showed her - for no known reason at all - that magic mirror, which showed Sunset an image of her as a princess, then refused to talk about it ever.
Hell, she didn’t even really descend into evil either - as far as the comic admits the only bad thing she did to actually be booted out for (as opposed to being a bit bitchy in general) was reading books she wasn’t supposed to be reading. While, y’know, searching for answers to the question Celestia kept stonewalling her on for no good reason.
I mean shit Celestia, you could have just lied about what the mirror was. Or just, y’know, tell her it reflected desires rather than truth, or any other possibly explanation for why Sunset saw herself as a princess.
Seriously. It’s not as if she, oh, mind controlled an entire town into violently assaulting each other over a doll or anything. I mean gosh, if she had then she might have gotten a disapproving frown! And her workload radically decreased, rather than… y’know, being kicked from her position as student.
If one wants to be cynical about it, the comic showed Twilight at the school in the background. Meaning she had already passed her entrance test to be there. Meaning Celestia had already offered her the position of student. Meaning Celestia needed an excuse to get her current student out of the way.
But, y’know, that’s just being cynical about it.
Trixie would bring her back to Equestria, wherein Princess Twilight would escort her to Canterlot to explain things to Celestia, and Celestia would tell Sunset that although she will still not let her be her student, she will still keep her promise that Sunset can continue living in Canterlot, and presents Sunset’s house key.
Sunset, filled with happiness over being home again, takes the key and hugs Celestia, promising that she’ll find a job in Canterlot, and hopes she’ll find love in her life. As she turns to leave, she bumps into Flash, sparking a very tiny interest between the two.
Don’t you DARE ignore me, FIGHT LIKE A MAN!
The tiara (Element of Magic) is the equivalent of Yami Yugi’s Leather Shoes? Makes sense.
And yeah, she had everything going for her. I don’t know how the Elements of Harmony work (if Twilight was born for it, or they just chose Twilight to be the wielder at the moment she needed them.) but Sunset could have easily been the Element of Magic herself, or at least a mentor for future generations.
From what I saw in the comic (haven’t read it yet, but saw some pages) she seemed way more skilled with magic (and possibly more powerful) then Twilight. {Which isn’t saying much, since it’s implied that Twilight is very powerful, she just doesn’t seem to like using her magic in bigger doses…She seems to be kind of an overall mare. She knows tons of spells, but isn’t masterful in most.}
To be even recognized by the Supreme Ruler herself in the first place is quite something. In addition to her magic talents, she has shown this ability to command respect from others, which is actually a good trait for a leader when used properly in the right situation. She just needs to clean up her personality. Though I believe all her foolishness was due to her frustration which eventually mutated into a freak hatred. Sort of like what happened to Marik.
Yeah, everyone has flaws. Some people just don’t know when they have it good until they lose it all.
Well she already had pretty much everything before her fall when she wanted more.
Wanting gets you into trouble.
I do believe she made it clear she wanted to be a princes…Oh, I believe I’m over-analyzing things again.
Sorry Sunset.
She doesn’t have to be namby pamby princess to achieve great things in life. She’s already quite talented with magic, which is something to take pride of.
