Whoa, good catch. The original show was never that cruel. “Go Back Two”, “Advance Two”, and “Move One Space” were placed so they would only lead to cash and prizes. When “Pick a Corner” was added, there was a Whammy in the upper left (and there are rare cases where taking a deliberate Whammy is a valid strategy!), but that was fixed halfway through season 2.

The first reboot, Whammy! with Todd Newton, wasn’t as careful. The pilot and first two episodes had an “Advance Two” in the opening round that could point at a Whammy, and the three-way “Move One Space”s frequently included a Whammy as one of the options. Board layouts for the current reboot aren’t readily available online, but I have to think they’re closer to the original, with movement spaces being safe at least until the later bonus rounds.

(Also, if it’s clockwise around the board it should be “Advance Two Spaces”. Small nitpick.)

Yes, it is him. Sadly, he ended up losing all his money afterwords, ‘cause a burglar broke into his house, and stole it all. (Should’ve put it in a bank, like most people do…)
