I think that’s odd, Pixels are rather big on the right like on a TV with physically larger pixels, and the version of the right has a blurred appearance due to being painted and having large pixels. I’d expect the left to not be reminiscent of anything; it is done in a fairly modern approach to pixel art with much smaller, much sharper pixels (e.g. GBA). The right is a little more genuine to 16-bit while still being modern with its craftsmanship.
I was actually gonna say something similar. The left reminds me of Genesis graphics, 16-bits, while the right makes me think of GBA graphics 32-bits. (I believe the GBA had a much wider color pallet, but do to the smaller resolution of the screen sometimes games like look just slightly more pixel-y; compare Sonic Advance to the Genesis games and you’ll see what I mean)
The fun has been doubled, probably.
It seems just another style.
Not to mention that the resolution is different.
And I’m getting a definite Heroes of Mana vibe from the right image.
Honestly it’s like looking at two entirely different styles. And I ain’t knockin’ that. I like it.
