The games inspector arrived way ahead of schedule, and she was counting on the people she tasked specifically with greeting her to greet her while she got prepared. Presentation on a timetable is a Morton’s fork; either you look bad for showing up and not looking proper, or you take the time looking proper and you’re bad for keeping them waiting. Cadance took the choice that ended up being the wrong one.
 
Besides, my “Spike will eat all the crystal shrubbery” point still stands.

anyway i down this i don’t blame Cadence for not getting spike she is a great character also she kill Sombra with spikes help if she wasn’t there spike will be dead and sombra wins

i kinder think spike didn’t want to come to the crystal empire because he is taking care of the animals.

Well, I dunno about the other ones, but Cadance had a good reason not to invite Spike back. She probably knows Spike well, and in the same episode, he showed incredibly poor impulse control when it came to eating crystals. Cadance needed the Crystal Empire looking pristine perfect for the Inspector, and a trail of chewed-up crystal benches and shrubbery would follow Spike for the Inspector to criticize. Cadance was being savvy enough to remember, but this explanation wasn’t shown in the show.
