I’m glad you like the comic but that’s not really the intention, except I guess with Twilight. I took the most liberties with Twilight and that part is entirely intentional but everyone else, nah.

I definitely was not prepared for the amount of Main Six I would have to write in Part 1 and it shows. I think the problem is I’m wary of… “over-characterizing” the characters like I’ve seen some fanworks do- where every single character is constantly displaying their “trait” (Pinkie must ALWAYS be fun) and I’ve swung too far in the opposite direction towards homogeneity.

G1 reference, this makes me happy.

It’s hard to see this as a parody of their personalities when they don’t seem to have different personalities in the first place. It’s almost like I’m watching different people, but in pony bodies. If that’s the case, then why use the mane six to begin with (view count)?

I think that’s the point: It’s a parody of their actual personalities, taken to the absolute minimum. Applejack would be the exception, as she’s the main character here. The story is about her, with the others providing comedic assistance. And the comedy is pretty damn good.

If I have one critique of this comic, it’s that nobody seems to have a distinct character voice. Everyone sounds like the writer, with just a few concessions like Applejack going y’all.
 
It’s the same way with their faces. Everyone seems to have the same library of facial expressions and emotional reactions, without much personal character shining through.
 
Hell you can even see it in this particular page where he’s struggling to clearly ascribe values to the Mane six, who are literally the bearers of magical personality elements.
 
It really holds the comic back, which is a pity since the art is competent, the pace of work is respectable, the plotline is plausible and the humor is often pretty good.
