The mirror is extremely messed up. The mirror accelerated the age of the CMC and fillies/colts, and either kept the ages or regressed the ages of the Main Six and background ponies. We’re also not sure of ages: sunset, in the comic, could gave been a similar age to Twilight (maybe a bit older), but was bigger and had a cutie mark at a younger age. I mean, didn’t Sunset look a little old to be trying out for Celestia’s school? Maybe they are similar ages.

I always figured the mirror disguised Twilight as a high schooler to fit in with her environment. So Sunset would look the same age as Twilight when they’re humans.

Can you explain what do you mean by “Age accelerated”,please? because that’s pretty much means to me that they still altered their ages.
 
In the comic,Sunset Shimmer (when she was Celestia’s student)was seen to be pretty much the same age of S1 Twilight.In the same issue we could see Twilight as a filly along with teenagers Shining and Cadence.
 
And in the end of the same issue we see Sunset,coming out from the mirror to the EqGverse as a teenager.
 
So I think we can pretty much assume Sunset is older than Twilight.At least according with what we were given,even considering Equestria Girls messed up a lot of things in consistency.

I don’t think we exactly know how old Sunset is compared to Twilight. Maybe they’re the same age?
 
Maybe the main six are the same age in EG as in the regular universe while the CMC and other youths are age accelerated.

The ponies who are adults in the show are teenagers here;the kids who are at elementary school age in the show are either freshmen or senior like Babs here,the characters who are more than 1000 years in the show are 30-40 somethings here.
 
Sunset Shimmer is older than pony Twilight but in this universe the seem to be the same age.
 
Yes,we can say that we shouldn’t take the Equestria Girls ages seriously,at lest when it comes to discuss the ages of the ponies.
 
They are not the same.

I guess this just shows that there IS an age difference between the ponies and there humanverse counterparts.

There is that. Principal Celestia is about a jillion years younger than Princess Celestia, after all.

It’s an alternate universe. No reason for all the ages to stay the same.
