Probably not at the end, no; maybe, say, near the end of the fourth season. This way, there’d be a few more episodes building up to the change, showing how Twilight’s maturing and using the lessons she’s learned, making it clear that yes, she is now ready for this new role. There were hints of that development sporadically popping up during s3, but they struck me as “doing the best we can with the time we have”-type moments, rather than a complete fleshing-out of her character.

In that case, we wouldn’t even be able to see much of what Twilicorn is capable of. If the series ends there. Kind of pointless if you ask me. Unless you fancy fan interpretations. Or they could’ve done a sequel with the older CMC as successors of Harmony with Twilicorn as their mentor.

I’m actually wondering if Twilicorn is something that McCarthy, Thiessen, and others wanted to do eventually, but Hasbro moved up the timetable in order to boost toy sales. File that under pointless speculation, to be sure, but I do think there’s a chance this wasn’t a completely one-sided directive from Hasbro.

Everybody’s arguing about Twilicorn, and here I am just enjoying this cute two second clip.

I know we all can agree that Princess Twilicorn was a blatant and unnecessary decision by the suits, and the show could do with or without. But most of the fandom just wants to enjoy the series and talking to each other about it, without all this unnecessary shenanigans. I know drama is part of us, but this is getting to a point absurdity.

I keep looking for examples of “hate” or “attacks” against anti-Twilicornites, and all I can find is this which looks to me like it’s about the fandom’s tendency towards drama (though I suppose the poster could’ve meant anti-Twilicornites only) and this which refers to Deadpon3 and others who insult anyone who doesn’t agree with them. Then there’s a half-dozen or so comments mocking people who were afraid the others in this animation were going to bow to Twilight (which includes some people, like me, who aren’t anti-Twilicornites) and another 8-12 comments directed specifically at Deadpon3.
 
So, what am I missing? Where are the comments that imply “this is an attack on” anti-Twilicornites? Where are the “people screaming in self-righteous fury about how awesomely pwned the butthurt Twilicorn haters are by this video”? And where are you when people from your side are slinging vile insults and slander against Meghan McCarthy and others on the show staff, and calling anyone who doesn’t hate Twilicorn a Hasdrone or something similar? Or is it only the anti-Twilicornites that shouldn’t be insulted?

Why are you all debating this? It’s a promo image. You don’t know whether this is the new opening or not, even if it were- it really doesn’t matter.

“Filled” may be an exaggeration, but yes, this is indeed the thread where people took a short clip from the new intro and turned it into an attack on people they don’t like, then proceeded to post more attacks, which predictably ended up starting another war.

This thread is filled with people screaming in self-righteous fury about how awesomely pwned the butthurt Twilicorn haters are by this video. If they don’t believe it was intended as an attack, then they’re certainly treating it like one, and that’s exactly the wrong way to handle drama. Or anything, really.

I didn’t see any comments that assumed this clip was an attack on anyone. There were a few comments mocking those who were afraid the rest of the cast was about to bow to pretty purple pegacorn Princess Twilight, then a couple of comments saying the mockery was kinda unneeded since nearly everyone believed Meghan McCarthy’s tweet that it was just a group photo, then the Deadpon3/Prof.Nightjack show started. Poof, instant 90-comment thread.

How does a short animation lead to ninety posts of white-hot sarcastic rage? The only thing positive anyone has to say about it is infuriated laughter at how miserable everyone else must be. Because apparently the Twilicorn lovers think that this is an attack on the other side. Somehow.
