Actually, no. It’s commonly questioned by skeptics and we don’t have enough evidence to say that we know he existed. I’d go as far as to say there was probably a guy named Jesus (or Yeshua or whatever) that might have claimed to be the son of God, but there are actually a lot of historians that think he never existed or just admit that they don’t know if he did or not. No offense, but I’m assuming you’re looking at biased sites that don’t cite their information. Try doing an actual search on it.
It’s just not as clear of a yes or no as either sides try to make it out to be and I don’t even claim to have any idea if he did or not, just stating about the whole “Common fact that all historians agree with” thing that isn’t even close to true.
People often speak of certain events in the bible coinciding with major events which have been proven to have happened. Such as the fall of certain cities. But it seems more likely to me that the stories were inspired by these events, rather than the stories actually describing said events in detail.
The books in the Bible are definitely different from the extra-biblical documentation about Jesus. Completely different style of writing.
The Bible simply cannot be verified as a trustworthy source. No prophecies have been made which are accurate enough to consider, and the other historical evidence makes it look more like the Bible is fiction based on real events, rather than real events.
Thanks! It always brightens my day to hear that I’ve been able to entertain my readers. That’s why I do it.
I often lurk around here on the boro, but seldom comment. I think as fandom authors go, I’m a fairly quiet low-key guy. Low internet footprint, in a way. But I do keep an eye out for the occasional Blueblood pic here and there, which was how I saw this. I hope we can get a source for it sometime.
And so Blueblood and his 12 drinking buddies did fast and pray, for Faust’s Will be done. And, Lo, on the last day, the wedding planners came for him, and took him away, and Shining Armor did betray him with a kiss to the cheek.
@Background Pony That depends entirely on whether you are religious and/or have faith in what Jesus actually said and preached. I’m just saying that while the idea of Jesus of Nazareth as the Son of God IS a matter of faith, the certainty of whether he actually EXISTED is not.
I remember when I wrote TBNE, I played with this concept when I added the scene where Blueblood thought about releasing Discord to escape the Gala time loops. I had a catholic education, though I’m no catholic anymore, and an allusion of sorts to this was irresistible. It is a valuable literary artifact: the personal moment of acceptance and wisdom in the face of overwhelming despair and helplessness. It is also meant to be the culmination of his growth as a character, and what he’d learned from others, because while nothing he did in the loops had a lasting impact on others, due to the reset, what others did in the loops had a great impact on him.
I even thought about it as his “Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane” moment. Though I guess, having written these thoughts, it sounds sort of pretentious and I’m tempted to just delete this whole spiel. lol. But maybe someone will be amused by reading it, so I guess I’ll just post it.

“It seems more likely to me” hardly qualifies as evidence. Can you give any specific examples to support your feelings?

You’ll have to go into more detail.

Well no kidding. If they were a testament to his divinity, they’d probably be part of the Bible.
Jesus did exist, look it up. But you’d be hard-pressed to find evidence of his divinity outside the Bible.
Yes… That is a “fact”… Totally not an assumption based solely on experience.

YOU wrote TBNE?!
…Dude I just want to say you’re my hero. I loved that fic to hell and back, it was so good.
Wonder what he would choose for his new name though?
@Ertinax
You. You two.
You get a cookie. A really nice one, too.

Sorry, but facts don’t suddenly change because people have faith. Jesus existed, but he was not divine.
“O My Mother Fausticorn, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.”
“O My Mother, Milady, Thy Highness Fausticorn… If I must really drink this cup o’bitterness, thy will be done…”
And the answer from the heaven:
“My son, Blueblood… thy shall be married to Trixie… No Ifs and buts, but the voice of fandom demands it…”
I believe he did say 2000 years ago, not in 2000.
Wouldn’t that had bee 20
13years ago? ’cause 2000 was like 13 years and 11/12 Moths ago!THIS!!
Nah, I basically agree with what either of these dudes are saying.
Carry on ^ _ ^
Drama is fun.
stahp, you’ll start another drama.
