I don’t know how to phrase my answer other than “because it is”, but I’ll try. It just…looks bad, you know? You’re almost uploading something so the community can judge it, and by trying to even slightly shift the score, it just looks…unprofessional? That’s not a great word for it, I know, it’s a site for colorful ponies, there’s no professionalism.
 
Faving is easier. Why favorite it if you can already look for it in your upload list?

That reminds me of a question I’ve been meaning to ask: Why is it considered bad form to upvote/fave a picture someone else has drawn that you’ve uploaded? I can see why you shouldn’t do that to your own drawings, edits, or other creative (more or less) works, but when it’s something that someone else made, why should uploading it here prevent you from also adding your meager vote to the upvote and fave counts?
