Mum tells tales of Grandad having one of these, he only had the bike license back in the day and a new baby meant a need for a car. Three wheels meant no extra testing so off he went. They had the thing for years!

Here in the states as far as I know, although it may vary for state to state, a 3-wheeled vehicle is considered a motorcycle and therefore not subject to car regulations which means the T-Rex does not need a windshield but you still need to wear a helmet though because it’s a motorcycle unless your state does not require helmets.

I think they are currently classified as motor tricycles (so if your 17 you can drive one with a class A [motorcycle] license only). They may have changed the regulations so that it’s a car now (which means one would need a B [automobile] license).

Well… yea. The whole premise behind this comic is that Reliant Robins are cheap to drive in Great Britain (due to fuel economy and the special taxation and licensing class assigned under British law).

You could build your own for much cheaper. If you have basic metalworking and fiberglass skills and a place and the tools to build it with, you could build it for less than half the price. You would need a bike for parts of course but used bikes can be had for quite cheap. I would put a turbo kit on mine, maybe 300 hp or so, nothing crazy ;)
