“Do they have beaches like this one where you come from?”
“Och, we dae! Me faither’ll tak’ the faimily tae the saunds ivery simmer!”
“This year past, it wis a Tuesday!”
Well,(being Scottish myself) I can actually kinda hear the text in my head and although you’ve done really well getting the accent, it’s unfortunately very archaic Scots. By that I mean it’s extremely rare to find anyone Scottish whose accent is genuinely THAT exaggerated (to the point where it’s borderline offensive).
afaik the Gaels spoke Scottish Gaelic. Which is not Scots. And Gaelic was a prestige language in Scotland for some time and thus had influence on Scots, but Scots is still a West Germanic language – influence does not change what it’s descended from.
Also a group of people who are culturally Celtic speaking a West Germanic language does not make the language a Celtic language itself.
I’ve always been a little surprised that the show itself hasn’t integrated much Celtic mythos into it.
I mean, yea Celtic myth is rather obscure because of the whole “didn’t write shit down” thing of being a Stone through Iron age culture, but there is enough floating around to make some neat plots.
Touche.
My mistake, I thought you were referring to the culture not the language.
The blog post says Scots.
BAM.

The tags say “Celtic Deer”.
Incorrect, modern day Scots are descended partially from the Gaels, who were a band of Celts.

I wouldn’t have a problem with him posting more of it here.
@HamburgerTime
agreed
Everything needs more Celtic/Gaelic stuff in it.
