I don’t know, while there are some personal touches, the “Trixie” bits, and such always seem to be just for humor, or for Seth to poke fun at himself. So I don’t feel they consume the whole site really. I also don’t think Seth hates the CMC, as he’s commented how adorable/funny they are at times.
(There was a time when nearly all bronies used to not like the CMC episodes, but now they adore them.)
The drawfriends don’t always reflect his tastes, but sometimes the tastes of the viewers, as well. Like they used to never show anthro’, or humanized fanart, because commenters/viewers used to complain about them, or hate on that kinda fanart, but lately they seem to be sneaking some of those in, with no problem. (There was a time when this fanbase used to hate anthro’ pony art.)
I sometimes think they overboard with the pony butt pics though.
But yeah, out of all the pony news sites, EqD is one of the best ones IMO, and it’s a nice place to stay updated about the series. I think even the episode reviews, and such are pretty fair overall. (Like they don’t mindlessly bash Season 3 like some sites do, and were pretty fair with those episodes.) The other news sites aren’t bad either though, don’t get me wrong.
It’s not entirely “Seth’s fan blog”, but that’s what it started from, and those roots still show somewhat. As you point out, there are others who also work on the blog and post content, and Sethisto does generally do a good job on posting news related to the show itself. Still, Seth’s preferences do peek through fairly often, whether it’s in fanboyish excitement for stuff that he’s partial to (Trixie, certain video games) or in snarky-but-joking comments about stuff he likes less (the CMC, some episodes). I also think the drawfriends reflect his tastes, and of course there’s the frequent silly posts of odd little animations and images, for which he has set the tone even if he posts only about half.
I’m not saying this to criticize EqD; it’s Seth’s personal stamp on the site that makes me so fond of it. The difference between EqD and Derpy Hooves News (the only other pony news site I follow regularly) is readily apparent, and pretty much entirely due to Seth’s influence. I think there’s plenty of room in the fandom for both the relatively professional DHN and the freewheeling EqD.
I disagree about that “Seth’s fan blog” remark, because if that were true, the whole site would be about him, but it’s Not. From what I’ve seen, it’s a pony news/fan site overall, and focus alot on the show, and fanbase/fanworks if you ask me.
And it’s not like Seth is the only one running EqD. Others help run it, and write for it to.
“Seth’s fan blog” indeed. a lot of people who bitch about EQD seem to forget that…
indeed that too. besides not truly caring that much for it, i already check too many sites to care for more than 1 ponynews site.
OK, the original post reads like a joke for entirely different reasons. Though the guy’s right about two things: EqD is less a news site and more Seth’s fan blog, and it’s a good idea, no matter what you’re following, to get your news from multiple sources. Personally, those frivolous posts he’s railing against are my favorite part of EqD; if you can’t have fun when talking about the animated adventures of a group of paste-colored magical ponies, when can you have fun?
sort of, text is edited.
check source.
responsabilities? hahaha!
“Things have been posted on EQD which have gotten show staff fired”
pics or didnt hapen. (anyone got info on this?)
“It’s generally a good idea to get your information from multiple sources anyway”
oh shit, here’s a obviously not sarcastical remark on how much important info im missing out!
“And if you see something being censored, or important things being ignored, or frivolous things being posted, call them out on it. Expect better.”
i’ll just check the source, i realy doubt im missing on stuff that important to bother someone bout wht they forgot to copy-paste
i like frivolous things. most people do
@Tenafly Viper
this, as silly as this is, there was no need to fuck up the text.
I had quite the giggle at that.

The original doesn’t read much better. It’s a network known almost exclusively for just caring about the $$$ and turning the fandom into a business moaning about a site they want to compete and have attacked before for not advertising them and in the same breath accusing them of being bad for the fandom. That’s fucking comedy.
This reads like Fox News caring that CNBC won’t run their ads…
Man, whatever. I just host pony images.
Something tells me that it was no accident, though…
They did. They published their review early on accident.
Yeah, I heard that they basically leaked the season 4 premiere without the Hub’s permission…
I like “Equestria Daily,” I don’t care if it’s getting trendy for people to bash it. It seems to be one of the best places to stay up to date on infromation about the show, and stuff.
EFN’s.
EqD’s or EFN’s?
@Takashi.0
After the stunt they pulled this week, all of their legitimacy in my eyes is gone.
or apologize when he jumps the gun.
From what I understand, though, most of the people at EFN are decent people. It’s just the people in charge who are assholes.
At least Seth realizes that you’re supposed to report the news, not make it.
Yeah. At least Seth usually has the decency to apologize when he goes too far with something.
I’d honestly rather deal with Seth than Final Draft.
