I’m not saying suffering an epic level punishment, just not completely and absolutely absolving her of all her sins and portray the CMC as the wrongful bullies for trying to extract revenge on her for betraying them and roughly abusing them for two weeks.  
The message in OBA is flawed because not once Babs is portrayed in a sympathetic light or given hints that she is ultimately troubled on the inside. She’s an unrepentant monster right up until the generic tragic backstory is given, then suddenly she is immediately forgiven of everything she’s done.
 
And though Spike was always a bit bumbling, he wasn’t a complete fucking retard who couldn’t operate a kitchen without making a huge mess, or was so absent minded that he ate gems without even thinking about it. There’s clumsy, there’s incompetent, and there’s special needs person.

The point of OBA is that bullies are people with their own problems, so having Babs suffer some epic-level punishment (like you suggest) would have fucked the entire moral over.
 
Also, I don’t see the Spike downgrade you’re rattling on about. His competence was always touch and go.

I’m talking about OBA and PC, where in OBA, Babs got off the hook without any repercussions, and in PC, Diamond Tiara just got demoted after she constantly egged on the CMC to continue publishing stories, and even blackmailed them to continue doing it.
 
Seriously, it’s fucking amazing how Diamond Tiara often gets just about the right amount of punishment, if not lower, and the CMC get shunned by the entire fucking town and/or presented to be in the wrong.
