Not sure about mesas, but the background was inspired by North American deserts, the sort of thing I imagine you might find in Utah, or Arizona. With a little bit of Uluru thrown in for good measure. That’s the sort of thing that always comes to my mind when I think of ‘badlands’.

Red means there is a high iron content lots of places can have it. I’ve lived in places that had red dirt and it definitely wasn’t a mesa.
So changelings can have the same abilities as headcrabs? hmmmm… *feels the inside of his front teeth to see if there are nerotapping features*
I’m not sure red sand is necessarily indicative of mesas.
A mesa tag, pretty please? :)
