Even adults can mature over decades. It is plausible, but not necessarily true, that the same could apply to Immortals. Although having a castle before being a ruler would be odd, and I don’t think they started ruling until they defeated Discord? I guess they could have been Duchesses or something before that…
In short I think I agree, but it is not conclusively proven to me.
Yes… they were playful, and we already know that Luna is younger than Celestia, and there’s no freaking way the Luna we saw fight Discord or turn into Nightmare Moon or appear in Ponyville’s Nightmare Night could possibly be frightened by the Castlemania corridor. Unless she was a filly.
All I got from that journal entry that they were playful. I think if you got anymore insight into what they were like than that, you’re reading too much into it.

Weren’t you arguing that Luna was a child when they lived in the castle based on the fact that she enjoyed the traps?
No one is saying Celestia didn’t enjoy these things…
The first part of that line implies Celestia enjoyed the traps with her. It makes Luna sound young and playful, but no more than it does Celestia.
2- The slide is Luna’s favourite, not Celestia’s
I find it very hard to conceive of a possible interpretation of that line that isn’t “Luna is young and likes these things, with the slide being her favourite”.
It didn’t say that she was a child or that Celestia didn’t enjoy them. I got the impression they were Celestia’s idea.
When Twilight read out Celestia’s journal, saying how Luna love all the traps and things.
When did it do that?
