Using this vector from a year ago I set out to show just how big the mane 6 is compared to one another.
Brought on by the whole “Twilight is becoming taller because she’s a princess now” argument. The screencap used in this >>492472 and the screencap portion of this >>501737 can be determined to be discrepancies when compared to a closer shot with all proportions equal.
I don’t deny the possibility that Twilight could over time become taller, this is the magical land of pastel ponies we’re talking about for Celestia’s sake, if that’s what the creative team wants to do, then by George their gonna do it. But until they acknowledge something like this in real life or in-universe, anything you see that seems off proportion-wise should be treated as a discrepancy, not a conspiracy theory.

Equines are measured to their withers because their heads can vary in position.
This is why some people don’t like it.
The official puppets are leaked to general public and they provide default poses and angles. It’s easy to confirm if a character’s features are changed or not in any given scene by comparing it to a default puppet.
People always seen to forget neck bends, exaggerated cartoon postures, plain old animation errors and the need for variety (e.g. if the heads were exactly level here, then it would look creepy) in these sort of things.
Same base, same size unless multiple scenes say otherwise.
I felt the same way about Fluttershy not being the tallest.

You know what, it’s bad enough that I felt the need to waste my own time preparing something like this, but now I’m here spitting venom at you, over a show about cartoon horses no less.
