Godzilla went after nuclear power plants. Not Zilla. I also take it you never saw the first film, the Heisei series or even the Millenium series. Hell, even in the very early Showa films before the Island trilogy, Godzilla’s Revenge, Godzilla vs. Hedorah, Ghidrah, Monster Zero or the MechaGodzilla duology, Godzilla was treated as a bad guy. What they are doing in the 2014 film is returning him to his darker, anti-hero/villain roots.

No, that was still Godzilla. Zilla was just an overgrown wild animal that still acted like a wild animal. Godzilla KILLED PEOPLE IN THE VERY FIRST FILM AND FLATTENED TOKYO!

Godzilla wasn’t always treated as a force of nature to be feared. I think a bunch of movies Zilla’s role was basically don’t use nuclear power and he went after those power plants. Others he was the one who saved the day and people where like. “Yay! Godzilla!”

Again, I won’t lie, Zilla’s design makes him look vicious while Godzilla looks more godlike. The problem is in the execution. Zilla was treated more like an animal needing to be put down while Godzilla was treated as a force of nature that either inspired awe or terror (but mostly terror).
Master Fox

Honestly, I like how Zilla looks. As a giant monster design it’s pretty vicious looking and very much capable. Godzilla always seemed bulky and stiff but that’s due to the Godzilla costumes being bulky and stiff.

Am I saying Zilla is better then Godzilla? Only in looks to me. Power Wise it’s no question who’s stronger.

Designs don’t mean shit. Execution matters. Sombra had a good design but he was underused. Zilla was featured in a piss-poor take on one of the most recognizable franchises out there. If you want to explain why you like the design, please do so.

Yeah, I won’t argue with that, the fight in ROE was pretty good. I especially liked how both monsters’ abilities were utilized (Godzilla’s atomic ray and brute force vs Zilla’s agility). However, that still doesn’t excuse the fact we got Zilla from one of the most insulting adaptation/remakes out there that felt less like its source material and more like the poor man’s equivalent of Beast from 20,000 Fathoms and Jurassic Park. Zilla has grown on me over time thanks to the series, his design and now his execution at the hands of Chris Mowry and Matt Frank as opposed to Roland Emmerich, the movie where he originated from? Not so much.

One: He is not called “Godzilla” anymore. He is called Zilla.

Two: Designs don’t equal squat, execution matters.
