That was another one of my problems with it. It was… Disturbingly similar to a rape fic, moreso than a shipping fic. It’s made clear that Celestia has no choice, so she just basically lets him have his way with her – the “shipping” aspect comes in the form of “BUT SHE STARTED LIKING IT HALFWAY THROUGH”, which I found tacky and poorly written.

Not saying that it doesn’t happen,but it also happens that people are kind of “forgiving” when it comes to fics of a certain pairing that comes first because they are,at the moment,a novelty.
 
They prefer to embrace the idea presented than the quality because it’s the only thing that is available at the moment,thus considering it “the best thing ever,I want moar!” or “for the first time ever,it’s not that bad” or “eh…could be a lot better,but I guess it will do”.
 
Until better fanworks appear later,that is.
 
It happened with Twilestia,for example.I remember when nobody even thought of shipping Celestia and Twilight (or were,in fact, shipping them because of the whole “Hot for teacher” but never attempted to do anything with it).Until some bored person decided to write a clopfic about them just for the sake of it.
 
I don’t remember the name of said fic,but it wasn’t a big thing or anything Shakespearian,in fact it was a bit like Mark of Chaos in terms of quality but happened? people were still quite receptive despite recognizing the fic wasn’t really that good because it was something that was catering to their interests and were going to take it because it was what they had at the time.
 
After that,only a few fics (more shipfics than clopfics) were here and there until some people,who already loved the pairing,but couldn’t find themselves satisfied with the quality of the current fics,went and wrote their own things and then we ended up having quality fics like Eternal or Composure and other stories.
 
It’s kinda like a chain.
 
You and I (and I guess everyone else) know that shippers are going to ship whatever they want,that characters that are not involved in any kind of relationship or that have never interacted in any kind of way (e.g. Soarburn,Fluttermac,Scracthtavia,etc) are usually not a problem for them because it’s easier and more fun to ship them for more superficial reasons (even though some of them would welcome for something in canon that validates them)
 
Other shippers though,make up things(use their headcanon) or tap the hypothetic side of things and try to add some thin layers to said pairings and some others work with what they have in canon and expand it from there.Some of them succeed and other fail at making it work.
 
In my opinion,Mark of Chaos as a genuine shipping fic fails in that department because it is as you said,the bite mark was nothing but something the author used to force the two characters to barely interact so that the main course,reason of the story (the banging,the rutting,the sex,you name it) could take place.Unfortunately,instead of make in it cute,warm,cuddly or sexy,it came off as unsettling because Celestia was basically raped,but in order to soften the blow,the author uses the plot device to make us fall under the idea that she’s ok and enjoying it,which is true but only because she’s doesn’t really have an option.It didn’t matter if Celestia had genuine feelings for him or not,so plot device in this case was a double-edged sword.
 
But that is,like already repeated before,because this story is a clopfic,an author doesn’t really need any good reasons for write two characters banging each other if he/she wants to,which It seems the author of Mark of Chaos was actually aiming for.Just a clop and a few laughs,like the Chocolate-Milk-Flavored cum HailtheRandom already mentioned,but that’s it.
 
Kinda like the stereotypical story in porn stories in which the MC orders a pizza but doesn’t have any money so proceeds to give the delivery man an “alternative method of payment”,if you know what I mean.
 
To be fair,there’s really nothing in canon that can be used as support material for Dislestia or Disluna,since all the two sisters feel for Discord is disdain.So I guess it makes sense that all we have is angst,creepy and absurd fanworks,being the tiny percentage of genuinely cute things the exception.

and i liked the plot device of the bite mark , at least it attempted to give a reason why the characters in question are getting together , where’s all other fics are just like ‘these character like each other because i said so’…….

Considering this was supposed to be one of the first Dislestia stories back then,I suppose people expected a bit more.Other people just didn’t gave two shits,because of the same reason.
 
Then again,this happens with a lot of stories in general.What happened with this one is that the bad taste is still in the mouths of some people,and it’s still difficult to wrap in our heads on how such fantastic art is being wasted in such a rubbish tale.

Not exactly.A good writer can pull off a shipping fic without breaking characters and not recurring to ridiculous plot devices like “I bit you,now you can only have sex with me and no one else” bullshit like it was presented here.
 
But then again (again),this is nothing but a clopfic,out of the bunch of clopfics out there.And the artist simply wanted it to draw because it’s just a clopfic that caters to his/her wants and not because it was outstanding.Just an artist wanting to draw what he/she (and has all the right).But things are what they are.That’s all.
 
Also,Stepandy is Italian and not very fluent in English,so I guess that was the major reason as of why he/she couldn’t care less about the grammar.

Like I said before,almost everyone can write Discord easily,a very skilled writer can do wonders with him,but he’s generally easy to use and abuse by anyone.
 
It’s not the same in Celestia’s case.
 
But yeah,both of them are quite off in this story and like HailtheRandom said,the grammar is terrible.
 
I don’t think even Stapandy chose this fic to make a comic because it’s “classiness” or anything,I believe he/she simply chose it because it’s Celestia + Discord + Clopfic + has a slight case of rape fetish…well,that and because subconsciously he/she’s the one who wants to be yiffed by Discord so…yeah.
 
The art in this comic is good,though.And that’s undeniable.

To be honest, I thought it was terribly out of character, and on top of that the grammar was atrocious (okay, I’m an English buff, so I might have been the only one that got annoyed by that). But like Amber said, they’re fairly hard to keep in character, so… Maybe we ARE being too hard on it.
 
(And, okay, the whole “Chocolate-Milk-Flavored cum” thing was just… Absurdly strange, to the point of being humorous. I couldnt quite get over that. XD)

I believe it comes from the fact that,while Discord is a generally an easy character to write,it can’t be said the same for Celestia.
 
The majority of fanfic writers end up latching onto the fanon personalities or we get something like the fanfic this comic is based.
 
Few of them can pull a well written Celestia,very few.
 
Kinda like with Pinkie or Rarity in most cases.

I’ve gotta be honest, Dislestia is tied with Flutterdash for my OTP (I dunno why, I just think it’s adorable). The fanfic, however, made me lose all faith in ever finding a GOOD Dislestia fic.
 
So for now, all we can do is hope for the best. XD

Lord, I hope the comic turns out better than the fanfic it’s based from. The fanfic was awful. But the art here is spectacular!
