Also, this was the longest I’ve ever wrote.
Sunset Shimmer returns to Twilight to tell her of grave danger. While just about to, the two were ambushed by some weird beings and ran away. They ran away to the Everfree Forest in which they try their best to survive. They get to know each other more and the friendship blooms even more so.
While there, Sunset managed to discover a temple, the very same one she was about to tell Twilight. There, they avoided traps and undead creatures, surviving through each obstacle. They reached the middle of the temple and Sunset told her of the great danger that soon will come.
Tirek will be released from his ten thousand years prison and will plunge the world in Hell of black flames. While there, they managed to turn on a key that will be used to lock the prison Tirek resides. They were ambushed again by those figures, now known as the Hellhounds, and fought back.
They were almost defeated until the rest of the Mane Six came to the rescue. They were able to defeat those beings and disappeared like smoke. Applejack explained that Fluttershy heard what Twilight and Sunset were saying and called the others. One of the Hellhounds came out of the shadows and attacked Twilight.
Sunset intervened and was attacked instead. The Hellhound then possessed Sunset and made her unable to control her body, who now acts like a mindless feral. While the Mane Six held her down, Twilight used a spell she discovered in the temple to enter Sunset’s deep consciousness.
There, she saw this. She then comforted the lonely Sunset and she guided Twilight to the Hellhound, who was a lot bigger than before and now can talk. Twilight did her best to fight the now superior Hellhound but she too, nearly failed. Sunset came in and tried to fight, but was too weak and helpless to succeed in anything.
As the Hellhound was about to crush Twilight’s ribs with his bare claws, Sunset grew mad and the entire world (still in Sunset’s mind) started to twist and change. Sunset had control of her mind and used it to banish the Hellhound out of her subconscious. She then had a small talk with Twilight and both hugged.
In the real world, the Hellhound came out and the Mane Six trampled on it. It too disappeared like smoke. Sunset woke up and so did Twilight (who when using the spell just transferred her mind, not her body). There was a cheer (and Pinkie’s random party ideas that was postponed later) and they all went home.
Twilight asked Sunset what she will be doing now and she replied to return to Canterlot. They then walk out of the Everfree Forest and nudged each other.

Given what I saw with her in the comic, either she’s more powerful then Twilight, or she has far better control over her magic. She seemed quite intelligent and actually, she could have been an Element of Harmony. {Seriously, not long into the comic she met five ponies similar to the Elements we know…Colgate and Lyra could have been national heroes.}
And yeah, being cut off from everyone you know and your magic for years must have been hard on her. (Also her first pic getting the crown seemed to make it seem like she wasn’t always bad…maybe pressure got to her or she latched on to the only thing of her world left and it got away from her.)

No friends, no redemption, and no “cheering up” from someone because no one believed her that she’s regretfully and sullenly sorry.
Someone get ether Twilight or Snails to make her feel better, apologize to each other, hug her and give her some hot chocolate. She needed all of that.
