One could argue that providing convicts with lodging, three square meals a day, exercise equipment, multimedia entertainment, and potential for higher education – all on the taxpayer dime – isn’t really punishment either. But that’s exactly what we do in the real world!
 
There are homeless people who commit crimes specifically to get the sort of things that they lost or could never have access to otherwise. But that conversation is a bit nuanced for Derpibooru, methinks.
