Where did you hear that Pinkie Apple Pie is expected to be a continuing story? I never really got that impression when I was learning more details about it.
I would put “Pinkie’s Pride” over Pinkie Apple Pie as a “key discovery” episode, since that episode is to test her element of laughter, just as RTM was about Generousity, and Rainbow Falls is easily Loyality.
And Rainbow Falls is confirmed to continue the games storyline.
