Mm. Give me a nice pinstripe suit any day. I’m telling you: Full three-piece suit, under-tone shirt and tie, actual fedora (not the gay fake ones), gold pocket watch on a chain, and polished dress shoes with matching dress socks. The universe itself will bow to how good you look in that ensemble.
I’ll agree suits are bland, but since not very many young people wear them just for the sake of wearing them, you’ll stick out and turn heads (in a good way) with a proper suit.
That, and people say I look like a mobster with the turtle-neck suit combo since I’m missing an eye and wear an eye-patch.
Also it needs pockets, lots and lots of pockets. I always seem to find random junk like lost toys, rings, watches, and gloves everywhere I go. Gotta have somewhere to store it!
In my experience the only unacceptable colors are ones that clash too much and needlessly bright outfits. My favorite suit is a blue shawl-lapel chalk-stripe two piece suit. I wear a darker dress shirt and a back tie usually, but I wear a black turtle-neck with it for less formal events. For everyday wear, I wear dress pants, a blazer, and a polo shirt which is basically an informal suit and comfortable as FUCK. You can get a great and very comfortable suit if you get one tailored instead of off the rack. I get mine custom-made from Hong Kong; You can get these self-measuring kits from pretty much any tailor (or order online), then you fill out a form and send it off and 6-8 weeks later you have a custom one of a kind suit. It’s actually cheaper than buying a suit from a clothing store.
@Muffen-Man
You basically hit the nail on the head right there. A fedora doesn’t look good on it’s own, only as an accent. It’s part of something bigger. If you just wore a tie with a t-shirt you’d look stupid, but wearing a tie with a blazer and vest combo looks boss. A lot of people decided “hey I’ll look like Humphrey Bogart if I buy this felt thing from Spencers for 19 bucks and slap it on my head”, and then when enough people did this everyone else was like “Look at all these asswipes and their gay little hats” and started making fun of them, and the Fedora basically became the go-to accessory for Autism.
I agree with you as to why the fedora gets a bad reputation. People who think they’re all that when they accessorize cannot resist the fedora because it’s the ultimate accessory to them.
That first pic though is made by the suit and the aviators, the fedora is along for the ride. Personally, unless they’re straight out of a film noire movie, I can’t give anyone in a fedora props.
I actually find suits pretty distasteful and unfashionable myself, but then A) everyone has to wear them for certain things (which makes them that much less a statement and more a really terrible uniform) and B) it seems like the only ‘acceptable’ colours outside of TV are grey and black, ugh. Formal event? I’m coming in a persian-cut percale, greatcoat and Tyrolean, fuck ya’ll if you think I should otherwise you punchclock corporate tools!
Badness by association when all the basement-dwelling neckbeards on the planet started wearing the.
Though I’ll admit a fedora looks good when it’s actually a fedora (not that gay little thing from Hot Topic), and when someone wears the proper clothing to go with it. A fedora is part of an ensemble, and it just looks bad when you don’t wear everything to go with it.
A guy in a suit and a fedora looks fucking amazing:
A guy in whatever the hell else he was wearing and a fedora looks like a jackass:
(And this was the nicest one I could find)

Frankly, I am surprised that people still remember 7chan. Is it even alive anymore?
All sarcasm aside, yes I’d say he represents 4chan. Especially if some guy had grumpy cat on his flank.
or 3chan
4chan…
HAhahaha you mean raging lunatic right?
