And then 9 years later Celebi ended up playing a major role in a movie AGAIN.

Thanks…though it just reminds me that it has been a long, long time since I’ve seen the anime (I used to be a fan), since I don’t remember anything about a “GS Ball”
But we didn’t 60 years from now the legend of the gs ball will still be around.
There was a GS Ball event in Crystal where you got a Celebi, but that was just in Japan.
The reason why it was dropped in the anime is because it was planned to contain a Celebi. But due to Celebi playing a major role in the fourth movie, it was considered redundant. So they just never brought it up again in hopes of fans eventually forgetting about it.
Was the GS ball supposed to be a tie in with the game, and the anime just never developed the plot?

It seems they dropped the ball on that one.
Its from the Pokemon anime, quite early on in the series relatively. It was a big important looking plot point that was completely forgotten about after being introduced.

It was revealed that celeibi was in it but pokemon 4ever came out so they dropped it.
Besides, all they can do with that box right now is look at it and say “I wonder what’s in it.”
