there’s no proof that Earth pony genes are dominate( the show could of made the foals earth ponies but they didn’t.) this proves that the ponies are closer than they think they are. its just like if your child looks like your parents or grandparents.

The simple fact of the matter is: Nothing about pony phenotypes makes any sense using basic genetics. Even if a unicorn or a pegasus were the father, it still wouldn’t easily explain this result.

The idea is good, but they messed up his lines by making him include a cousin in his explanation.

I saw a simple explanation somewhere. I forget the biological name for this genetic trait… its not co-dominance, but you get me I hope. It suggested that two dominant alleles generate a unicorn, a dominant and recessive yield a earth pony, and that two recessive’s yield a pegasus.
 
That way when two pegasi breed, they can only produce pegasi, thus, Cloudsdale doesn’t have raining babies.
 
But this was suggested before Babycakes so I have no idea if that still works or not.
