I think the idea is that the comment shocked her so she dropped the spell. We are seeing the needle hover in mid air just before the fall.

Funny you say that - seeing how kilala ships Celestia with a hybrid, aka Discord. They even go on to have a son, named Illusion. So yeah, if you don’t like hybrids, I think you should steer clear of kilala’s artwork.

Celestia has no grudge against hybrids. Only ones that cause Discord levels of trouble. Heck, Discuss himself is more roaming freely (mostly). Claire is no more troublesome than Diamond Tiara, maybe even less.
