I thought somebody once suggested that this kind of behavior was Sombra’s “start of darkness”- he got the spell to make him royalty, but still found himself being talked down at by some condescending nag because she got wings to go with hers.

Instead of pushing himself any further in a society that wouldn’t value those efforts, he simply chose to tear the existing infrastructure down.
